Firstly I’ll tell you a little bit about Haikus. So, what are haikus? If you don’t know, haikus are a type of poetry. It’s a Japanese poem of seventeen syllables, consisting of 3 lines. The first line has 5 syllables, the second line has 7 syllables, and the third also has 5 syllables. Furthermore, haikus traditionally are about topics of nature, but not always. They are free-verse poems, meaning that they don’t need to rhyme.

Not too long ago, I finished a book series called “The Trials of Apollo.” It’s by Rick Riordan. I really recommend the series. But before you read this series you should probably read the “Percy Jackson” books and the “Heroes of Olympus” books. Those two series tie into the one I am talking about. Anyways, in “The Trials of Apollo,” the beginning of each chapter started with a Haiku since Apollo is the Greek God of poetry. That is what inspired me to write some haikus today! These haikus are random but I hope you like them!

My 7 haikus:

Waves against the shore
The sun’s rays casting bright light
When will summer come?

A small paper plane
Falls quietly to the ground
Quite a boring day

A citrusy scent
Drifting around in the air
Some good lemonade

The strong wind whistles
A very cold day indeed
Winter has arrived

The luminous sun
casts shimmering yellow rays
in fields of daises

The ocean glimmers
like diamonds beneath the sun
splashing onto sand

Shiny crescent moon
Following you all around
Brightening the sky

All in all, those were my five haikus, they were about some random topics, mostly about things in the natural world. One of the struggles of making haikus is running out of space. They were fun to make, and I might be doing a book review on the series I mentioned in the beginning.
