Did you know that you may find ancient Greek architecture in some of the biggest cities? Well, it’s true! During the Golden Ages of Athens many new ideas and skills were developed, however, I think that the architecture the Ancient Greeks developed was the most important, because it influences us the most today. I think this because the most important buildings have been influenced by architecture from Ancient Greece. The White House, Lincoln Memorial in the USA are just a few examples. Many colleges and universities are also built with inspiration from the Ancient Greeks. Colleges like Downing College and Cambridge University in Cambridge England are some colleges, who knows maybe your future school may also be inspired by the architecture from Ancient Greeks. In the 1800s Thomas Jefferson was an architect who designed his home and the University of Virginia inspired by Ancient Greek architecture. Ancient Greek architecture not only affected important buildings but also very important people in the history of the USA.

Thanks to ancient Greek architecture we now have movie theaters that were originally built for theater back in ancient times. Due to time, the movie theater was modified to make it how it is today while still keeping its original shape, a semi-circle with rising rows. Stadiums were also created by Ancient Greeks which were originally built near natural areas but were soon evolved to be structured with rows of seats and areas to access them. These stadiums had separate entrances so athletes could make dramatic entrances just like the stadiums today.

The Romans also got very interested in Greek architecture that they started to make their own with a few differences. The Romans before starting to create with the Ancient Greek architecture they first had temporary theaters inspired by the Greeks before permanently building their theaters like the Greeks with a few changes like turning the orchestra pit into a normal sitting area since Roman plays did not require a chorus. The Romans used the columns that the Greeks used for their architecture and adding a few changes like having a separate base. Overall in The Golden Ages Of Athens, their architecture affected us the most.
