HI EVERYONE
SO
Solus is back again hehe
If you’ve ever seen a lineup for an anime convention, or videos like “Interviewing the cast of X at Xcon20XX” [X’s are placeholders of course], you can probably tell that any fan of a media would love a convention.
I mean, you’re surrounded by fellow nerds, you can buy merch based off of stuff you like, and you get to meet a few of your favorite voice actors? Fun, right?
IT IS FUN.
But conventions can also be a bit overwhelming first time around.
SO I’m here to tell you what to expect! (I say as I’ve only been to two conventions lol)
- Expect people.
THERE WILL BE A LOT OF PEOPLE.
THERE ARE NERDS NEARBY. AND YOU WILL FIND YOUR PEOPLE.
Also you can always step outside if needed. At least at the cons I’ve been to.
(From what I know, you get a wristband upon entry, so nobody yells at you for coming inside twice if you’ve paid the first time.)
- Wear cosplay!!
I’ve worn cosplay at both conventions that I’ve been to, and honestly, I was also self-conscious.
I was worried that I’d be the only one in cosplay and get judged for it.
BUT DON’T WORRY ABOUT THAT.
There are as many people cosplaying at cons as not, and people will walk up to you and compliment your cosplay. If you choose to talk with VA’s there, some will also compliment your cosplay, even if they don’t know the game or the character!
(The joy at that moment is intense. Seriously intense.)
But if you don’t want to cosplay, that’s also okay! As mentioned before, not everyone attends cons in cosplay. I’ve spent a day at a con without (I’d cosplayed there the day before but decided to take a break the next day), and my family goes to cons without cosplay.
Nobody will judge you for going with or without cosplay. So do it if you want and don’t if you don’t!
- Have money.
Not just for eating. Cons are expensive!
Between all the great merch up for grabs and getting stuff signed from VA’s, you are going to spend a LOT of money at cons. If using a credit/debit card, expect at least one “Suspicious Activity Warning.”
[Not much you can do about this one lol]
And that’s all!
If you can, I definitely recommend going to a convention.
Buhbye :]
