Hello everybody!!

I’ve decided that my covers will be migrating to solely my podcast! So, instead of both blogs and podcasts having covers, only the podcast episodes will have covers.

If you’d like to listen to the podcast but don’t know where to find it, we’re on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, IHeart Radio, and Pocket Casts!

Anyways, moving on to my blog.

There are a ton of things that people have no clue how to do.

So, as someone who is focused on helping others (usually), I’ve put together a little guide of miscellaneous how-to’s to make your life easier.

Lets-a-go!

How To Be Nice To People

Ways to Be Nice To People:

  • Hold the door. This can make people’s lives easier. And they’ll usually return the favor later, if not immediately after.
  • Think about other people’s emotions- will this effect only you, or them as well? Or will it have a butterfly effect? (It will usually escalate. Treat everything as if your mother is standing around the corner.)
  • Share when you can- like if someone needs a pencil, lend them a pencil. If someone needs some looseleaf and you can spare some, lend them a sheet. This is another thing that will usually be reciprocated.
  • Listen when people are talking about their problems- they’re probably having a bad day. Don’t just respond with “womp womp” or “that sounds like a you problem”. It is a them problem. Can you fix it? Try to help for goodness sakes.

There’s your first list of tips!

How To Decline Latin Nouns

  • Take any Latin noun. Lets use a simple one- puer, pueri m. – boy
  • The letter at the end (in this case, m., tells us what gender the noun is- in this case, it’s masculine) usually tells us what noun endings to use. However, we also need to find the declension of the noun.
  • I know that puer, pueri is a 2nd declension noun, so we’re going to use the 2nd declension noun endings. In that case, these are:

(Noun chart be me- macrons are excluded.)

Now, we need the stem of the noun. We do this by taking the genitive singular of the noun we are declining (always the second word in the entry- e.x. puer, pueri) and lop off the genitive singular ending.

In this case, take away the “i” and your stem is puer. Keep in mind that your stem will not always be the nominative singular. “Puer” is just a friendly noun used for example.

ALSO- TO DECLINE THE NOUN TO NOMINATIVE SINGULAR, NOUNS SIMILAR TO “PUER,” LIKE “VIR” DO NOT USE THE ENDING. TO FIND THE NOUN IN NOMINATIVE SiNGULAR, LOOK AT THE FIRST WORD IN THE DICTIONARY ENTRY (ex. puer, pueri)

Now, what are you trying to decline the noun to? Ablative plural? Accusative singular? Just follow the chart to your ending and whack it onto the stem. You should end up with something like: pueros, pueris, puerum, etc.

Boom! Now you’ve declined a Latin noun! This should work with nouns of every declension!

How To Keep Your Papers Uncrinkled When Putting Them In Your Backpack:

  • It helps to put them in a notebook or something. If you don’t have any, load your backpack like normal.
  • Then take your papers and make them into a neat stack.
  • Gently slide your papers in between two notebooks. Be sure NOT TO FOLD THEM.
  • This should keep them nice and straight!
  • IF YOU DO THIS WRONG, YOU’LL END UP PERMANENTLY CRINKLING YOUR PAPERS. BE CAREFUL.
  • Ta da 😀

How To Take Deeper Breaths/A Singer’s Breath:

  • Focus on your diaphragm- that’s somewhere below your ribs. It helps to put a hand there.
  • Take a breath in, but try to pull the air into that muscle.
  • Focus on your hand. Is it moving up and down, or is it slanted? If it’s level, you’re doing the breathing right!
  • You can implement this skill into running, singing, and many other activities. This is a technique commonly used to take in more air.
  • This is a skill that takes a lot of practice to implement and master. Don’t get discouraged!

There you go!

I hope you enjoyed these helpful how-to’s!

Let me know on this week’s podcast episode if these were helpful!

See you then for covers!
