WHY DO WE CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS?
Every year on the twenty fifth of December we celebrate Christmas, but why do we celebrate this holiday. Well we celebrate Christmas to honor Jesus Christ, Christians believe that Jesus was the son of god but have you ever wondered why on the twenty fifth. You maybe wondering why is there an entire holiday for Jesus!? This is because Jesus was a spiritual leader form Nazareth. Jesus’s teachings forms the the basis of Christianity. Back in the past the very very earliest Europeans celebrated light and birth even in the gloomiest days.
WAS CHRIST BORN EXACTLY ON THE TWENTY FIFTH OF DECEMBER?
Is there even proof that Christ was born on the 25th of December!? NO! In fact there is no proof that Christ was born exactly on this date also there was no date that was written in the bible that he was born on the 25th of December, but however we do know that he was born sometime around 2 BCE, 7 BCE or 4 BCE but no one really knows though! However he could be born in that exact date though! We celebrate it on the 25th because the first ever time that Christmas was being celebrated was on the 25th of December was because the early Christians celebrated then with food and family along with friends. There are other theories of why we celebrate Christmas on the date we do every year.
THE WINTER SOLSTICE IN PERSIAN AND IRANIAN CULTURE!
In the Persian and Iranian culture the winter solstice is called the Yalda night. During Yalda night friends and families gather and eat, drink, and recite poetry. Yalda means birth and it comes from the early Christians that lived in Persia that celebrated the birth of Christ. In conclusion no one really knows Christ’s birthday date and why we celebrate Christmas on the day that we do but there have been theories!
