Hello Everyone!

Christmas is around the corner and so is New Year. I can’t believe we have gotten this far into my book reviews! There is more news coming soon and more books to be read and discussed very soon! But today I will be reviewing a mystery book named Coop Knows the Scoop by Taryn Souders.

Cooper Steven Goodman, a thirteen-year-old boy needs to know so much about his life. After losing his father who worked at the marines. Delilah (His mother) and Coop take residence with Doctor Harley Goodman or Coop’s grandfather or gramps in Windy Bottom, Georgia. Coop never knew much about his father or his paternal grandmother but it didn’t really bother him. He had his two best friends Justice and Liberty whose parents own A Latte Books a bookstore/cafe where they hang out most of the time. A few days before the first day of school, a collapsed playground recovers the skeletal remains of a woman. It turns out to be the remains of Tabitha Goodman, Coop’s grandmother who had gone missing forty years ago. Coop wants to know who possibly murdered her. Gramps is one of the suspects for murder. But it can’t entirely be him. Was it Earl? Burma? Miss Ruth? Gramps? Who knows? Does Coop solve the mystery?  If you are into books with mystery this book is just for you.

The thing I really liked about this book was that It was easy to read, humorous, and kept you wondering about the mystery. One other thing that amazed me was the title of the book and the characters in the book. The names like Liberty, Justice, and Tick along with Coop was interesting. The common themes are family, friendship mystery, forgiveness, and coming to terms with loss in life. The only con in this book is that the author has not included diverse characters.

I don’t read mystery books but this book got me hooked. I would highly recommend this book to grades 5 and up. You can get this book through your local library, Amazon, or listen to it through any audiobook or e-book source.
