It all started on the 15th of March when a celebration called Kumbh Mela had begun, ever since this festival the covid rates in many parts of India had increased by a lot and only got worse as the days went by. On the 4th of April, the famous 80-year-old priest in India had tested positive for coronavirus. However, instead of quarantining himself from the public, the priest thought it was a good idea to board a train going 621 miles (1,000 km) to the city of Varanasi. This is where he met his son and they rode a taxi to their village. Although his son was begging his father to not let his covid symptoms spread within a few days almost half the village including this son caught covid.
After days the covid spread from all cities to the point that there are no hospital beds left, patients are sharing beds and are even on the floor. Additionally, there was no oxygen also, India’s death rates have also gone up by hundreds per day. The total amount of cases in India currently is 22.3 million, although more than half have recovered there, India still suffers from 242 k deaths. This also resulted in no more places to burn the dead that they have started to use parking lots as places to burn the dead. With India’s covid cases going up every day most airports have also closed down and are not taking international flights with fears of spreading these cases worldwide.
