Ah, Friday Night Funkin’. The rhythm game in which you press arrow keys to make a smol blue boi go beep bop(and the game that always autocorrects to Five Nights at Freddy’s). But what is FNF exactly? Who are the characters? Why are there various copyrighted characters in mods(occasionally a creepypasta or an original character)? And what the heck is a BETADCIU? I am SO glad you asked(well technically I asked but whatever)! I’m here to answer(almost)all your questions(again)! Now, let us dive into the humongous world of FNF!
What Is FNF?
Friday Night Funkin’ is a rhythm game where you play as a smol blue boi named Boyfriend(why)who wants to be with his girlfriend, named Girlfriend(double why), obviously made for each other. But GF’s dad(who is an ex-rockstar)hates Boyfriend and wants to kill him(every relationship in a nutshell lol). So they rap battle. And then GF’s dad loses. And it allllllllllllllllllllllllllll escalates from there. That’s the game in a nutshell, anyway.
Who Are The Characters?
Of course, there’s Boyfriend and Girlfriend, but there’s GF’s dad, Daddy Dearest, an ex-rockstar who is overprotective of his daughter, Girlfriend(they are both demons). He also hates Boyfriend. Skid and Pump, the opponents of Week Two are kids from the show Spooky Month by Sr Pelo( watch it on his channel here)who go on adventures together. They appear to battle BF in a spooky house(duh). But in the final song you battle a flesh-eating lemon demon named Monster aka Lemon Demon(I guess Skid and Pump left)who wants to eat GF. In Week 3, you battle Pico from Pico’s School(not FNF)who is BF’s ex. He battles BF for some reason, I dunno. You can play Pico’s School here(violent) and Pico’s School: Love Conquers All here(includes BF).In Week 4, you battle Mommy Mearest, who is GF’s mother(also a demon). Some people call her Mommy Must Murder(idk why). In Week 5, you battle Mommy Mearest and Daddy Dearest together while the latter points a gun at a Mall Santa who dies(well THAT escalated quickly). Oh, BTW, Lemon Demon comes back with a Santa hat and STILL wants to eat GF(and boil BF too). Geez, won’t he settle for some random dude on the street? In Week 6, you battle Senpai, a Japanese high school senior from the game Hating Stimulator(read my blog about it here). He dies(the first antagonist to die, the second character to die), and then you battle Spirit, a soul trapped inside the game by Daddy Dearest. In the last week(so far), Week 7, you battle Tankman, from the show TANKMEN(rated PG-13, view it here). Here, it reveals that GF is a demon. Also, during the final song, Stress, Pico kills about 81 Tankmen(weh wah wah). And that’s every single character with a teeny bit of context. Now onto the next thing.
Why Are There Various Copyrighted Characters In Mods?
People usually use mods to insert themselves in FNF(a self-insert), make a skin mod of themselves, insert a copyrighted character, or to make their own thing(usually one of the best mods). So people use these mods to insert Sonic battling BF, Mario battling BF, Sonic.EXE battling BF, I HATE YOU Luigi battling BF, BF facing off against the DDLC gang, or even StickyBM(the best boi, go buy his membership)over Monika and Yuri from DDLC(:3)! Original mods include Bob and Bosip(we miss them), Boy and Girl, CJ and Ruby, Spoinky Boingy(go play his mod), etc. There are way too many characters to include here, but I felt like these were the mods that deserved a special mention.
What The Heck Is a BETADCIU?
A BETADCIU is an acronym for But Every Turn A Different Character is used. For example, in a BETADCIU, one turn there could be StickyBM vs Fever, the next Bob vs Bob, the next CJ vs Ruby, and so on. These covers are probably the most interesting because there’s a fresh new voice at every turn. Many people make BETADCIUs, and you can check out all of them, but you really need to check out Neonight, Sharv, and Lylace.
