Hello everyone!! Not only will I be doing FNF covers for today’s blog, I will be talking about >ahem<

(i don’t care I have about three weeks until it arrives on March 25th) (I need to write stuff)
It’s a festival where you throw color powder in other people’s EYES(i speak from experience)and uhhh have fun 😀
BUT, like every festival, Holi has an origin. There are many myths about the creation of the Festival of Colors, however, I’ll focus on my personal favorite(aka…the only one that’s really interesting to me).

DISCLAIMER: I’m in 7th grade. Don’t expect everything I say to be 100% accurate. Make corrections in the comments(but be nice about it).
So, once upon a time, there was a king named Hiranyakashipu. He wasn’t the best king(it’s a Hindu myth: of course the villain is a king), and he wanted his son, Prahlada, to follow in his footsteps. But all Prahlada wanted to do was worship Vishnu(yes, good guy = god worshipper). So, Hiranyakashipu decided to get rid of his son.
He took his daughter Holika(who was also evil)and had her sit next to Prahlada in a fire. See, Holika had a magical shawl that saved her from being burnt by the fire.
Or…would have.
The plan? Holika and Prahlada would sit under the shawl, then Holika would leave and Prahlada would die. Woo woo, problem solved.
…ofcoursethisdidn’thappenbecausewehaveholibuthearmeoutok…
So, the plan started okay…but quickly went:

(yeah that was fun to type)
So, instead of covering Holika, the shawl decided, “Lol NOPE the good guy has plot armor because he’s nice” and covered PRAHLADA instead of Holika. So uhhhh Holika burned and died.
Prahlada probably went something like this:
And now, obviously, he knew something was up.
Vishnu was NOT happy about this whole mess. So he later killed Hiranyakashipu.
BUT Hiranyakashipu wasn’t easy to kill. He had a boon(why do the gods always give boons to the people who end up misusing them- makes you wonder why they still do it-), which made it so he couldn’t be killed inside or outside, not by man or animal or weapon, not in the Trilok or Earth, and not in the day or night.
So, he’s unkillable, right?
…
NOPE.
Vishnu turned into Narasimha, a half-man, half-lion(I feel like it would’ve been cooler if he had turned into a giant man-eating plant), went to Hiranyakashipu’s house, killed him in the doorway, in his(Narasimha’s)lap, with his own nails(claws?) at dusk. And that was the end.
I don’t know if this story has a moral, so I’ll just put this: Don’t make Vishnu mad.
