Thanks for Chase Kip for the Idea. You can visit his page here and watch his videos on Youtube or Twitter!
Have you ever looked at anything related to greek mythology and thought “WOW, this is great, I wish this was real life”. But what if that greek myth thing that you were looking at was about a tsundere instead? Well I will show you that in reality! Meet Kid Icarus, a series of humor, plot twists and cute characters. And this will be really accurate, no things mixed up, and more explanations on things. This was based on a video by Chase Kip, so I decided to make the same thing for my blog!
WARNING: THIS SECTION IS VERY LONG. IT WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS TO ANYONE THAT NEVER PLAYED THE GAME BEFORE
First we have how it all started, with a young man named Toru Osawa, who had a idea for a new game for the NES (if you guys are wondering, this was after the game Metroid was released, this info will be useful later), where you could jump like Mario, collect like Link, and shoot items like Samus (the protagonist of the game, Metroid, which, again, released a few years before Osawa came up with his new game). Nintendo agreed for Toru Osawa to make his game. There was only one flaw though, Nintendo did not give Osawa a team to help him with the game, adn Osawa didn’t know how to code. And there was a TIME LIMIT for the game. So to finish the game quicker, Osawa teamed up with the group that created Metroid, and after days and days, the game was finally “finished”. You see, Osawa did not have enough time to create the credits, so he just hoped that his game sold thousands. And it did. And then enter Kid Icarus, the first game of it’s series.
So this game takes place a looooonnnggg time ago, where the land was ruled by gods (but most of the gods were just a whole load of jerks that want a lot of power). Anyway, we are focusing on two specific gods- or should I say goddesses. Palutena, the godess of light (pa-LOO-te-NA? PA-loo-TE-na? I don’t know how to actually pronounce her name) and Medusa, the goddess of darkness. The both ruled a place called Angel Land, which lives among the clouds and all the humans there lived in peace and harmony. Palutena would use her godly powers to bless the humans with crops and fruit, while Medusa on the other hand would dry up the crops and turn the people to stone, just because she dosen’t like humans (god, get over it).
One day Palutena thinks that “Hey, Medusa is harming the humans, she must have when a little TOO overkill”. So Palutena gets angry at Medusa, turns her into a cyclops, and banishes her into the Underworld. But, Medusa then convinces all the underworld forces to ambush an attack on Angel Land. Palutena tries to fight back with her army, but since her army is made of buff dudes that have a combined IQ of 4 and one angel named Pit that never learnt how to read (aka: our main protagonist), they lose. So Medusa takes over Angel Land and Palutena is imprisond in the Underworld, but not before using her godly powers to create and send a bow down to Pit (that angel that never learnt how to read). To make a long story short, Pit escapes and has to save Palutena (ok, from now on, we are calling her Palu, her mostly known nickname). And then you play as Pit to complete the game.
FYI, there are these things called the Three Sacred Tresures that can help Pit defeat Medusa. But Medusa gave the Three Sacred Tresures to three strongest members of the Underworld Army. So Pit finds himself battling Hewdraw, Twinbellows and Pandora (who BTW is just a ugly ball of fire). Pit defeats the three and eqiups the Three Sacred Treasures, flys up to Skyworld (the Pegasus wings (one of the Three Sacred tresures) is the tool that helps him fly), beats Medusa and the world is saved.
OK, THIS BLOG WAS LONG, BUT I’M NOT FINISHED YET! COME BACK NEXT WEEK AND CHECK FOR THE SEQUEL!
