Have you ever heard of the “Mount Everest is the tallest mountain in the world!.” Mt. Everest is the tallest mountain in the land, however Mauna Kea takes the role of being one of the tallest mountains in the world.

Mauna Kea is an inactive volcano on the big island of Hawaii. Mauna Kea’s base is far deep under the pacific ocean. Mauna Kea is measured to be 33,500 feet (10,210), which is nearly a mile taller than Mt. Everest what is believed to be the tallest mountain. Mt. Everest is measured to be 29,032. With this information you can clearly see that, Mt. Everest is not the tallest mountain in the world, and there in fact is three other mountains that are taller than Mt. Everest in Nepal!
