Last week, I was able to finish up a book called Mirror to Mirror by author Rajani Larocca. I had read Mrs. Larocca’s book, Red White and Whole last year, had reviewed the book .Interestingly, it is still my favorite book. Today, I will be reviewing one of her new books that I had been dying to get, which is Mirror to Mirror. It is a coming of age story of two Indian American twins Maya and Chaya, and their journey of finding themselves through their passions of drama and music.

Chaya and Maya, Maya and Chaya. Dynamic duo of twins.Sisters by Chance, Friends by Choice, They will never be apart and their interest in music, arts and theater pulls them together. Life isnt easy during your teenage years, it’s the time that you find yourself and things happen and it leads to change. For the worst, and the better. Twelve year old Maya and Chaya start school and all is well. But there’s a secret that Maya is trying to hide when her monsters and secret anxieties try to get the best of her. Maya, a piano playing perfectionist tries to hide her anxiety from everyone she cares for. Chaya, is an easygoing artist who wonders why her sister has been so anxious lately. But Maya begs her to hide her mental health from everyone. Chaya and Maya later realize that growing up isn’t easy and that things will have to change for either the good or the better. This story shows an Indian American family going through Family, Love, Sisterhood and Coming of Age. I highly recommend this book to ongoing middle schoolers and middle schoolers in general. What I like about this story is that it has given readers an outlook and the point of view on mental health.

This book is written in verse, which makes it even more interesting and fascinating . The easy language made me finish this book quickly. If you are looking for a verse novel you should check this book out.Happy Reading Everyone!
