When eighth grade started in September 2022, I never once thought that the school year would fly by so quickly. The school started in September and now, it’s May! I can’t help but think that each day that passes by, I am closer to high school than I am to Elementary school or even the start of eighth grade. Throughout the course of my middle school years, I have done multiple things my school offered that has made me the person that I am today.
For example, in sixth grade I started Mock trial which I have continued throughout 7th and 8th grade. This club has truly helped me be who I am, this club has taught me to think quickly on my feet, improved my public speaking, allowed me to make new friends and also improve my self confidence. During my 7th grade year I tried out forensics which my partner and I won 1st in the state for. Forensics is a club that is purely based on public speaking and teaching kids to be comfortable talking in public. There are many different categories in Forensics, my partner and I chose the category Special Events. I really enjoyed Forensics it was a really fun and creative experience from making props, to figuring out how to involve them into our script, overall it was a really fun experience.
However in eighth grade along with Mock trial and Forensics, I decided to try out the Ski and Snowboard club at WHMS. I joined this club with a friend neither of us knowing how to ski. Though no one knew how to ski, the most fun part was seeing each other fail and get back up to re-try to go down the hill. In conclusion, throughout my years in middle school I have joined multiple clubs that are all very fun and a learning experience. As I move into high school, I hope to continue these clubs and better myself through out them.
