Hey everyone! If you’re wondering where I have been right now, I’m in Florida!! In Orlando specifically!!
Why? Well, I got to go to MegaCon! For those who don’t know what MegaCon is, it’s a convention where people meet up to showcase their favorite fandoms in pop culture through cosplay, merchandise and even meeting famous celebrities that have ties with movies, TV shows and books that many people love!!
So how was my experience? Well, to sum it up for you…
We spent WAY too much money.
I found some D&D dice that cost about $200, got some cards that had cool Moltres (from Pokemon) art and got many other things from the convention.
One of the most memorable moments from MegaCon was one of the artist sections of the convention, where artists show off their own fandom art (or the official artists sell their own) to give to loyal fans!
One of those sections (i.e the one we are thanking about) was a section led by Kami Garcia and Gabriel Picolo. The duo has created one of my FAVORITE graphic novel series based on The Teen Titans (from DC). And I LOVE it.
So when I found out you could get autographs for BOTH of them, I was sooo jittery.
Overall, the creators were really friendly and kind (not to mention Mr. Picolo shared my frustration with Teen Titans Go! being the worst thing in existence)
Sadly, I didn’t find a trace of any fandoms my sister and I are really into (Fire Emblem and Kid Icarus). But, I did find a trace of Fire Emblem, in the form of Dimitri from Three Houses…
Let’s just say it wasn’t that family friendly…
Anywho, the cosplayers I saw the most of were dressed as:
- Monkey D. Luffy from One Piece
- Chopper from One Piece
- Goku from Dragon Ball
- Mitsuri Kanroji from Demon Slayer
- Deadpool from…well take a guess
- Stolas from Helluva Boss
There also were a lot of people dressed as anthropomorphic dogs that at one point did a cute little conga line.
I really recommend you come to MegaCon sometime if you are a huge fan of anime, indie animation, cosplaying and much more!
