Hey there, fans! I’ve been spending more time on the computer, and you guys might be wondering why.
The reason is obvious. I’ve got a new obsession and I want to share the obsession with you and your friends (if they read this blog)! This kinda includes something everyone might know about, but I’m telling you all anyway just in case there are people out there that have no idea that these things exist.
Manu!: A Graphic Novel (by Kelly Fernandez), A Book that Will Melt Your Heart
This cheerful tale shows a girl named Manu, who loves causing pranks using her magic. She goes to a girl’s school that teaches girls how to use magic to become experts (like using skills to shapeshift, summon energy blasts, etc). Manu would be a very skilled student… if she weren’t using magic to create pranks and trouble the school. So when her best friend, Josefina, accidentally curses Manu by wishing her magic would disappear (which actually works!!!), Manu has to find a cure, but what if the only cure was getting help from a demon? This book has snippets of Spanish, adventurous moments, and goat-bat-ibex demon hybrids (which are super adorable). The book has such a good ending, which has a mild twist!!
The Lumberjanes (by various people), A Series That Will Keep You Waiting for More
This book series follows five girls: Jo, April, Molly (with her racoon Bubbles), Mal, and Ripley, as they have various adventures in “Miss Qiunzella Thiskwin Penniquiqul Thistle Crumpet’s Camp for Hardcore Lady Types”, a summer camp (that parodies Girl Scouts). But the adventures are not as usual as they seem! The five (technically six) meet three eyed foxes, a woman that can shapeshift into a bear, and even two Greek gods in the woods of their camp. With their scout leader Jen, they solve many of the mysteries in the uncanny camp. The series is funny and has many likable characters that anyone will love!!
Steven Universe: A Wholesome, Funny Series that Will Keep You Addicted Until the Last Episode
This television series is known to many people, but I really want to explain it at least this once. Steven Universe is just your average kid…. at least if that average kid has superpowers and is half alien. By alien, I mean Gem, a race of aliens that are born as gems from the earth. These gems that usually raise Steven are Garnet, a stern but sweet gem that loves Steven to the max, Pearl, a mother-like figure to Steven who (in my opinion) is the best character in the series, and Amethyst, a playful and sisterly gem to Steven, who often uses her shapeshifting ability for fun and mischief. Together, they are the Crystal Gems, a group that has its duty to protect Earth from other gems trying to meddle with the planet. This show has a sequel show and even a movie of it, because it was (still is) that good. This series is for people that love adventure, comedy, Pride celebrations, and even all three!
