On the 31st of July 2020 we went camping in Nagawaukee Park. Camping there was so much fun and I am so excited to do it again on. I was so happy to see so many people at once in person. Camping did have a downside though and that effected me. A couple weeks ago I sprained my left ankle while riding my skateboard and I had to be on crutches for the camping. My cousins, my friends, aunts and uncles were all there at the camping.

When we arrived at Nagawaukee Park Group camping are #4 I got out of the van with my crutches with all of my family, we decided to all come from the van that we take on our road trips every summer. When we got there I moved around on my crutches while some people were cooking food, others were setting up tents, people were arriving and playing. I moved around with my crutches and soon I saw Adit cutting up some boiled potatoes and I sat down and started accompanying him and eating like 1. Also after cutting all the capsicums there were some extras that me and Adit finished off. Soon after a while my dad joined us after work with the chocolate. We had been waiting do patiently for the chocolate to add to the marshmallows since we just roasted them and eating. Soon after he came pasta was ready and after I ate my pasta we started roasting marshmallows for the smores. This went on until we all gathered around the campfire and I was so surprised that there were zero mosquitoes I was able to go into my tent around 2 am with zero mosquito bites. Me, Abha, Ritika, Adit and Rose all went by a tree and started telling each other scary stories while everyone else partied off by the campfire. Then soon it was 2am and we went to sleep.

The next morning I was awake around 10 am and saw that almost everyone was awake already. I grabbed my crutches that was outside on the grass and hopped my way over to the people. I also saw the fire on and I found a chair to sit near after freshening up. I said good morning to everyone and started talking to Ritika who was also sitting by the fire. We ate our breakfast which was Dunkin Donuts which Abhi brought. It was so good. Afterwards Ritika started roasting marshmallows then everyone was waking towards the lake, everyone except me and my dad and Aagaman since we could not leave him since he was still sleeping. When he finally awoke there was no donuts for him and my mom’s tires had low air so we drove to the nearest gas station which was Kwik Trip and my dad got some chips too. We headed towards the lake after filling up the tires with air. We tried to find Abha, Ritika and Rosie since there parents were telling us to find them but we could not so we went back to camp. Then in the evening we went back to the Lake to play on the sand we found Abhi and Adit there and we all started building sandcastles and Sahaj and Shivya soon joined us down by the lake. After about an hour we headed back to our camp ground and we started playing with my crutches. After eating pasta we didn’t roast marshmallows today but we soon started the campfire that day there were so many bugs there I was so surprised with how much bit me. Finally at 2 am we all went to bed.

When I woke up I heard my mom going out of the tent and I couldn’t sleep so I woke up and it looked like the campfire was on and there was my mom, Pratigya auntie, my sonomommy, Sangita auntie were all there and I joined them with my crutches. It took a while before more kids started to wake up but after everyone was awake we started packing up dishes the extra food, we took down the tent and let the air go out of the air mattress. After all that was done we took photos of the group and we climbed into our cars and drove off saying goodbye to our campground. Although we needed to wear masks and we couldn’t go into each others tents we still had a great time and made memories to remember our time here. I am thankful we did this it gave me a chance to see everyone in person.
