The Bridge home is a book that is written by the author T. V. Padma. In this book two girls Rukku and Viji two sisters run away from home because of their abusive father and out onto the streets of India. Rukku is Viji’s older sister and loves he unconditionally with developmental disabilities. When out on the streets they made two other friends Muthu and Arul who already have experience on living out on the streets, they also met a dog who they named Kutti they befriend the three and they soon became a close family. They settle in on abandoned bridge and made a home out of the bridge and shelter with tarps there.They make a business thanks to the lady they met on the first day out on the streets who they call auntie buys beads as one of the sisters makes necklaces and bracelets to sell. After months on the streets and on the bridge a man comes to attack and chases the five away from the bridge and they soon make a new home in a graveyard, but what happens when they sell their dog Kutti and Rukku gets sick?
AMAL UNBOUND
Amal Unbound is written by Aisha Saeed. Life is quiet in Amal’s Pakistani village. She had no complaints though, she was busy pursuing her dreams, her dream was to become a teacher one day. Amal was 12 years old and lived with her family which includes her parents and two sisters. Then her mom was pregnant again! After delivering Amal’s new baby sister her mom fell sick, causing Amal to drop out of school for the time being and take care of her mother as well as her new little sister. Being the oldest out of the four sisters wasn’t easy. One day she was sent to the store only to find the last of the item she was looking for. On her way back she bumped into the villages most important person without knowing. He was Khan. He tried to bribe Amal into giving him the last of that item. Not knowing who he was she talked back to him, causing a very stressful time in her family history. Her action caused her to pay debt by working for the man Khan, but what happens when she makes an enemy?
THE NIGHT DIARY
The Night Diary is a novel written by Veera Hiranandani. Nisha was an ordinary girl living an ordinary life with a dead mother. Nisha wishes so bad that her mother was still alive and how life would’ve been like if she had her mother with her. Her mother was Pakistani and her father was Hindu, many people didn’t approve of the two’s marriage since it was with two different ethnicity’s, because of the two’s mix Nisha and her brother were a mix of Pakistani and Hindu. This soon causing a dilemma in her family when the government announced that there is now a border and now Pakistan and India are now their own countries. Not knowing what to do they decided to cross the border and move to Pakistan. Crossing the border was not easy the long walk to their destination especially with the heat didn’t make it any easier. They finally got one of their mother’s brothers to let them stay for a while since his house was right by the border, but what happens when they run out of water before reaching their destination?
