On the 10th of April, we had our 5th annual Nepali New Year Cultural/New Year Program. Nepali Cultural Program Started in 2017 and we have been letting kids run this program ever since. This year it was Janavi’s and my turn to run the program. We both anchored for this program and performed. This program was my very first time anchoring, and I absolutely loved it. We held our program in the pavilion of Mitchel Park. I had a really fun time announcing people up to perform and to watch their performance as well. In the beginning, it took a little bit of courage to start the program since I never did this before, but as the program went on I found myself enjoying talking in front of an audience!
For this program, I also choreographed a dance to the song Visit Visa Ma from the Nepali movie Dhal Bhat Tarkari. I choreographed this dance for Shiviya and Aagaman. I had a really fun time teaching them and I am very proud of them! Additionally, I also performed a new song called Hansapur Gau. This song is a village promotional song used to attract people to visit the village. I choreographed this dance by myself and had an amazing time making moves for your entertainment!
The last performance I did was a group dance with Abha Tripathi, Ritika Adhikari, and Janavi Wagle. The four of us danced to a mix including the songs Gau Ki Gori, Chaubandi Choli, Barpipal Chautari and, Pailo Number Ma. Choosing the songs was a really hard time since there are so many songs to dance to! My favorite part of the dance was when Ritika and Abha changed into boys for our last song Pailo Number Ma! In conclusion, our 5th annual Nepali Cultural Program was really fun to be a part of and I hope to keep anchoring for the next upcoming programs as I also perform!
