This past school year, I had seen girls in my grade reading books by the author Colleen Hoover. As a book enthusiast , I was intrigued by the popularity of the book series. I asked myself “What’s the hype around these books”?

During my recent school trip to New York, I bought November 9th by The NY Times best selling author Colleen Hoover, and I must say that I was impressed and touched by this book. I look forward to reading more of her books in the near future. As soon as I finished reading November 9, I couldn’t stop myself from reviewing this book.

Fallon O’Neil, an introverted teen actress tries to hide her burn scars. This was from a fire accident on a day she dreads, November 9th(two years before the story starts). She has issues with her parents after their divorce. Inorder to escape from her unfortunate world she moves from Los Angeles to New York with the hope to continue her acting career. Fallon meets Ben, a UCLA student who aspires to be a writer. They coincidentally meet on November 9th, (two years after Fallon’s accident) which is also the day before Fallon moves across the country. After some friendly encounters , they promise each other that every year on November 9th, they will visit each other in person and won’t have any in-between contacts. Fallon had been a very insecure person after her accident, but Ben makes sure that she is hopeful and stays true to herself. Years pass, and Fallon tries to be the way her mom always made sure she did. But then after a few awkward and heartbreaking instances, she feels like Ben isn’t the person to trust or the person that truly loves her. There are some interesting and shocking twists to the story that will keep you hooked on.

What will happen next? Will Fallon and Ben be the perfect couple? How does this story evolve through the years and days of November 9? If you’re into books with romance, mystery, coming of age and family, this book is perfect for you.

This book has a maturity rating for people thirteen or older as it covers explicit topics parents or children may be uncomfortable with. Otherwise, this book has touched my heart and I have enjoyed the content. While reading the book I found myself in the protagonist Fallon and Ben’s shoes. I quickly realized how much I could relate myself to both characters, specifically how I had Ben’s passion and Fallon’s introverted yet creative soul. I highly recommend this book to all teens.

Happy Reading Everyone!
