Hello everyone!
Today, it took me longer than usual to come up with a blog idea. Why?
Because I am succumbing to writer’s block myself.
So, how do I overcome it?
writing various self-indulgent fire emblem engage fics Helping other people overcome their writers block!
How do we do that, you may ask?
Well, remember when my sister made a series involving these two blogs about how to get over writer’s block?
Here are some actual prompts to help you get over your writers block!
(It also helps to go do a Pinterest)
(Oh well I’m here)
- Rewrite your favorite myth! Make everything go right, modernize it, or make an epilogue! or make it more sad lol
- Personify an emotion of yours! Stress, joy, anger, personify it and write it as a character! Give them a name, likes, dislikes…this is also great for helping manage your emotions.
- Write a paragraph describing a color…without using the color name or synonyms for that color. It’s harder than it sounds.
- Write a story inserting yourself into one of your favorite stories or games. Try not to give yourself special powers/abilities while keeping the game mechanics the same.
- Write yourself in Ancient Roman/Greek times. You somehow get whisked away by the gods and brought to Mount Olympus. For whatever reason–you can make yourself a great hero, the child of a god, the reincarnation of a great hero…the possibilities are endless!
- Pick ANY song. Choose a lyric from that song. That’s the title of your story! Now, write a story that gives off the same feeling as the song! Drop a song lyric in the plot every now and then, and end the story with a line based off one of the song lyrics.
- Write a story centered around something that scares you! (eg. the dark, snakes, spiders). However, if you can’t do this for personal reasons, write a story centered around something you really like! (eg. if you like kittens, write about a character who goes to a cat cafe and [significant event] happens to them). Go wherever you want with this!
- Write two characters you like from two DIFFERENT pieces of media and write them running into eachother somewhere. Make them be friends, or enemies, or whatever! (You don’t need to stick with their canonical personalities. As an Ovid applier of headcanons [hehe puns], you think of characters how you want to :3)
And there you gooo!
You have writing prompts that you can tweak to your heart’s content!
I hope these help you get over your art block!
