We talked about Racism last week in class and people like Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, Abraham Lincoln and even more people worked hard to make sure we have equal right for everybody and people are not being racist. Racism still continues today with people like George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery gotten killed because of their skin color. In the future I hope this will stop and everyone will look at everyone as one person that is not different than anyone else. These are some civil rights leader and other people who have worked hard to stop racism.

Martin Luther King Jr: Martin Luther King Jr was born on 1-15-1929 he was an African American minister who soon became the most famous spokesperson in 1955 he led the Montgomery Bus Boycott and became the first president of Southern Christian Leadership Conference. He led an unsuccessful struggle against segregation in Albany Georgian in 1962 and also helped with the nonviolence protest in Birmingham Alabama in 1963. He also helped with the March on Washington also in the year of 1963 where he gave his most famous speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial “I Have A Dream“. Fast forward to the year of 1964 on October 14th and was awarded the Nobel Prize for combating racial inequality through the nonviolent resistance.

Abraham Lincoln: Abraham Lincoln was born on the 12th of February 1809. He was part of the Republican party and was a statesman and a lawyer who also served as our very own 16th president (March-4-1861 – April-14-1865) Lincoln is also known for his leadership during the Civil war (1861 – 1865) and also for signing the Emancipation Proclamation which is an executive order for making it legal for slaves to be free. When he was born slavery had already started and he did not like it. When he grew older he became a statesman and a lawyer soon leading him into presidency and leadership. He fell in love with Mary Todd Lincoln, got married and soon had their 4 children Robert Todd Lincoln, William Wallace Lincoln, Tad Lincoln, and Edward Baker Lincoln. Civil war was a war between the northern states and the southern states of the U.S.A to free slaves from white peoples grasp. Abraham Lincoln was assassinated on April 15 1865 while in a theater. Abraham Lincoln was a civil rights leader fighting for freeing slaves in his presidency years.

Rosa Parks: Rosa Louise McCauley Parks was born on the 4th of February 1913. Rosa Parks was an american activist during the civil rights movement mostly known for her role in the Montgomery bus boycott. Some U.S.A congress called her “the first lady of civil-rights” or “the mother of freedom movement” On the 1’st of December in 1955 Rosa rejects when the bus driver demands her to move to the colored side of the bus so that a white man can sit down. She was arrested for “civil disobedience”. Rosa’s disobedience inspired people in the black community to boycott the Montgomery buses for a year. Once freed from arrest Rosa Parks got the chance to work with other civil rights leaders like Martin Luther King Jr. and Edgar Nixon who was once the president of the local chapter of the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People). Rosa Parks was an amazing civil rights activist during the civil rights movement before she passed away on October 24 2005.

Civil rights leaders, activist have helped us see that Racism is a bad thing though it still seeks through countries and especially with the death of George Floyd protests have sparked up through our country. I thank all of the civil rights movement leader and activist for making us realizing that racism is bad I hope one day everyone will notice that so this world can live as one.
