Hello Everyone!
Today, I will be reviewing a book named Rosewood: A Midsummer Meet Cute, by Dr. Sayantani Das Gupta, one of my top favorite Asian American authors. Over the past two years, I have read a few of her young adult novels such as Debating Darcy, and The Serpents Secret. I was really excited to finally get a copy of her brand new book, Rosewood: A Midsummer Meet Cute. This story is filled with adventure, love, coping with loss and friendship.
The story starts off with eighteen-year-old Eila Das, a Bengali American teen who is trying to move on after her fathers death. There is only one thing on her mind. Her focus is on joining college to be a lawyer, and getting involved with theater as her passion. In the summer before she goes off to college, she gets the opportunity to attend the Regency Camp, hosted by the producers of a phenomenal show called Rosewood. Her younger sister, Mallika forces her to grab the opportunity to give all the best she’s got. When she attends the camp, she meets a Jane Austen-William Shakespeare loving teenager, Rahul Lee. He’s the only thing that sweeps Eila off her feet and brings out her loving and caring personality. At the same time , Eila is struggling to get over her dads death, juggling with the responsibilities of being the oldest sister, her college plans and her feelings for Rahul.
Will Eila decide to listen to her heart? Or logically think about her future decisions? If you’re into theater, drama, coming of age, friendship, family and love, I recommend this book to you.
You can borrow it from your local library, or buy it from the closest bookstore to you!
Happy Reading Everyone!
