This year on the annual family road trip, one of our stops was Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Gatlinburg in the eyes of a child was a “fun city”! From sky lifts, aquariums, arcades, and haunted houses! During our stay at Gatlinburg, my brother Agie and I went to Ripley’s Haunted Adventures. It was a haunted house that looked like a normal home on the outside but really the scary secrets lay within. On the porch of the house, a scary man with a stern face stared at us never blinking, not even once. I thought he was a robot, I’d make eye contact for a second then quickly look away, it was as if his eyes were seeing right through me and into my soul.

My dad, brother, and I entered with caution as darkness emersed in the room as red lights turned on. A man with a cane greeted us in a room full of skeletons giving us directions “stay on the path and always have one hand on the shirt of the person in front of you”, he said. After that he went mute, answering no questions, budging not one bit. Cautiously we moved through trying our best to stay together in the dark. Everywhere we looked around we’d see skeletons and weapons, and most of all we would smell the one smell of fear. Once after a left turn, we heard faint screaming and cackling “AHHAHAHAAHA”, the noise went followed by deathly screams. There we saw the most terrifying thing one could see, a woman in white with long black hair with a skull on her face. She was chopping something with the large butcher knife in her hands from behind the counter of the kitchen. No one could tell what she was chopping but as she did she would move close to us aiming the knife at me and then cackling like a lunatic. As she went closer my heart raced, but thankfully my dad told her to stop by waving his arms at her signaling the heartless lady to stop. After rooms and rooms of creepy dolls, weapons, and people scaring us we finally made it to the end. The bright light of the hot burning sun enlighted me and pushed the torture of the room behind me away. While I calmed down my little brother Agie cried as he was laughing, it was like he turned into a lunatic. Later that night I saw the lady in my dreams pointing that knife at me white cackling like a maniac.
