Since I did not FULLY explain how Pikachu became the mascot of Pokemon (see last blog), I’m writing this blog so you can hear the rest. And this is the perfect opportunity to share more info too.
- Pikachu was not going to be the mascot of Pokémon
Ah, Pikachu. The only Pokémon that people that are not “Pokémon Trainers” know about (not to mention that it is the one of the three Pokémon that cannot be defined as it being “spelled wrong”). But it was not going to be that way at first. When Pokémon first started, it was a Clefairy (a Fairy type Pokémon, but was a Normal type until the region Kalos came out) that was going to be the mascot of Pokémon, but then people started to like Pikachu more than Clefairy. And since Pokémon wanted a lot of money, they changed the mascot from Clefairy, to Pikachu. I mean- who COULD resist those big, adorable eyes?
2. There is a Shiny Card for All of the Galarian Starters and their evolutions
In the Pokémon franchise, the only shiny starters that had a shiny card (with it’s evolutions) was Charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard, Serperior, and Emboar. But then, more shiny cards came, Shiny Pokémon like Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble (with all their evolutions, of course!) came and entered the trading card game. Now, more Shiny Pokemon are being added, and more people are buying cards!
3. Someone in Japan hacked a Sobble and got arrested for it.
Most people know about hacking and it’s upsides and downsides. The people that use hacking for bad purposes are called Black Hats. A 27 year old “black hat” in Japan was arrested for selling a hacked Sobble. Why THAT specific Sobble? THE SOBBLE WAS SHINY! The crook was luckily caught in the act. Now people won’t DARE to hack Pokemon nowadays.
Well, this is all I got for you today. Make sure to check next week to learn about a family that sold fake Pokémon Cards!
