Hey hey everyone! It’s me again, your favorite blogger (besides Abby I mean)
A few weeks ago, before spring break started for me, I had a long weekend. Since this was also when my sister’s break was, so for the occasion, my mom and dad decided to take us to Kiawah Island in South Carolina! Not only to walk on the beaches, but also (ugh!) to play golf.
But, the experience we had was AMAZING! The hotel we stayed at was GORGEOUS, the beaches on the shore were breathtaking and the golfing… wasn’t that bad! You can thank the wilderness for that!
Speaking of, there were SO many animals EVERYWHERE you look around the island! Specifically birds, however. The birds that I saw around the island were all different shapes, sizes and colors! Even their behaviors were unique!
Along the beach, we saw some ghost crabs scuttle along the sand, and when the tide came out, there were clams scattered all over the beach that were spitting out water! My sister and I tried to dig the clams up (you know, just like in Animal Crossing: New Horizons!), but after realizing that those clams can be buried a FOOT underground, we graciously admitted defeat against the bitter bivalves.
Along the beach, my family and I saw that the beach was littered with these weird disks with strange grooves. Here’s a picture for reference (original picture came from here):

We later found out that (translation: we Googled it) these disks are actually egg cases of a cannibalistic snail! Cool!
And on the golf courses, there were SO many alligators. An employee told us that the reason for thus was because spring was the best time of year for the alligators to sun themselves on land, since in the fall and in winter, the weather’s too cold for them to go on land. The gators also don’t sun themselves during summer for that long since the weather’s too hot for them to leave the water! Alligators are cold-blooded, they live for that sweet spot in-between!
I even got a picture of a gator up close! Look at how happy he (she?) is!:

I really want to go to Kiawah Island again someday! The many different birds and insects there would make a great blog to write about!
Seeya next week! (hopefully)
