(Spoilers for TOTK Warning. Also random FE Engage DLC Spoiler. Lol)
Hi everyone! It’s Solus again :))
And I’m enjoying my summer break. A lot.
I had been playing a TON of Fire Emblem Engage (Like–a TON ton) (Happy Late Birthday, Bunet), even starting a new playthrough.
However, my mother wished to play Tears of the Kingdom, which, to save my fingers from certain death, I shall refer to as TOTK.
(Also known as the sequel to Breath of the Wild, but with big cats and Tartarus.)
So, I agreed. Mainly so I wouldn’t have to hear about it later.
But also because I went, “You know what? Let’s come back to this game. I had fun. Except when Ganondorf got a big ahh health bar 2nd phase. But I had fun.”
So we load up the game–and hav completed most of the side/main quests. Except for “Go Find Zelda”, “Defeat Ganon”, and crap.
So we go hunting for wells, and complete a few shrines–not the “Proving Grounds”, however.
For those who don’t know, “Proving Grounds” shrines are shrines in which you are challenged to defeat various monsters…starting with no equipment, no food, nada. Nil (Spoiler[FE]-Liked him better than Rafal FE lol). You pick up items along the way. But um. Nope. Not doing that.
Eventually, my mother finds a Lynel. The most notorious monster species in the Legend of Zelda series.
When I stopped playing ToTK, I had just gotten good at taking out Lynels. Though I still did hate them a bit.
So I go into my first Lynel fight in a while.
Bust through a few shields and swards, remember why I hate two-handed weapons, run out of food, eat a whole lot of apples. But take it down.
A little bit rusty, of course. But I immediately want to fight MORE OF THEM.
Because Lynels are fun!
I go around, massacring every Lynel in a 5mile radius. And invading monster camps. Muddle Buds, yay.
(Muddle Buds are items which, when fired, release a purple cloud that confuses enemies and makes them fight eachother.)
(They do work on Lynels. Yes. Though Lynels are so isolated from everyone and everything, there’s honestly no point in dragging them to fight eachother. Not worth it. also they dum when fighting other mobs. So uh. Ye.)
Surface world gets boring after a while though. So of course, we head somewhere else.
Not Skyworld. This ain’t Kid Icarus. Also nothing up there except flowers and bobotz.
We head to Tartarus–aka the Depths.
Because there’s a BUNCHA BIG SCARY ENEMIES THAT KILL YOUR HEALTH. AND YOU HAVE TO EAT OR GET BURNT BY SUN TO REGENERATE. HAHAHA.
Nothing better than making Lynels worse. Yey.
So we head down to the Depths.
And find Lynels! They’re where the stables are on the Earth/Material Plane. (DND reference wee hee)
AND WE KILL THEM! BECAUSE WHY NOT FUNSIES >:D
Though I am not yet satisfied with my Lynel hunting.
Why? Because Lynels are fun. Let’s kill them. 🙂
Luckily for my bloodlust, there’s a Coliseum in the Depths (Floating Coliseum).
Which is filled with nothing BUT Lynels for Link to kill!
How convienient!
So I take a Fanplane and a Steering Stick to get over there as quickly as possible.
And take care of the first few Lynels relatively quickly! White-Maned and Silver end up being a bit of a challenge, though.
And then there’s the Armored Silver Lynel.
Oh, GODS.
That thing has a HUGE AHH SPIKED MACE AND WHACKS YOU.
Luckily, a few bombs and the armor’s off. Then you can go WHAM BAM STAB STAB STAB
(Phineas and Ferb ahh reference. Illiad-based episode. “Troy Story”. Stole that title from me and my Certamen buddies. Toooooo many inaccuracies. And no Patroclus. 0/10.)
So if you want to go fight in the Lynel Coliseum, here’s a list of stuff that’ll be useful:
- A good Master Sword fusion. By good, I mean the second/third-strongest thing you have. Not the strongest, because if that thing breaks, it gone and you dead. (If you don’t have the Master Sword–ohhh man. How far are you in this game? Get your two full Stamina Wheels and go.)
- At least one Royal Broadsword + strongest thing you have. I used a Silver Lynel Saber Horn, but if you don’t have that, use something else that’s still quite strong. You can probably use any Royal Weapon, as they all give you a more powerful Flurry Rush, but the Sword lets you have a Shield as well so you’re not completely screwed if you miss <33 Use this after the Master Sword breaks.
- At least one Royal Broadsword + clubbing item. I used a Silver Lynel Mace Horn, but if you don’t have that, use something else. If your strongest item is a clubbing item, good for you.
- A multishot bow + bomb flowers. Lots of Bomb Flowers. Good for breaking through the last Lynel’s armor. Duplex Bow works, though I used a 3-shot Mighty Lynel Bow.
- FOOD. GLOOM FOOD, HASTY FOOD, ATTACK UP FOOD. YOU’LL NEED IT.
- Flurry Rush skills. That’s your big tool here. Lynels have patterns, and if you know them, you can beat them.
- Shields. They’ll all break, but shields. Strong shields. You just need something to Flurry Rush easier.
- The Depths Armor Set — not necessary but very much preferred, especially fully upgraded. Taking less Gloom damage is good.
Your key now is to FLURRY RUSH LIKE CRAZY. Kill the Lynels, then, when the Armored one comes out, shoot it with the Bomb Arrows as many times as you can. When it’s too close to do that, Flurry Rush with your smashy weapon.
After you kill the Lynels (or they kill you), you get to open a TREASURE CHEST :DDD
And it has Majora’s Mask in it. Which makes you seem like an ally to all Humanoid monsters. Very very good for monster camps.
(Unless you just wanna kill. Then it’s not really helpful. But it’s cool, I guess.)
(Charge in and wham stabby stab >:DD)
(Or use Majora’s Mask. That works too.)
I mainly just come back here to kill the Lynels for their parts. Helpful for clothing upgrades.
Also I just want to kill Lynels. Haha.
So there’s a guide on killing Lynels for you! Sort of. Anyway.
I hope you enjoyed that heck of a long blog. I haven’t been writing a ton anyway. 🙂
Ok bye :DD
