Yep-fun thing continuing for I dunno how long.
But anyway.
Jhordan hugs Zynux. “I thought you had been taken!”
Zynux laughs and ruffles his friend’s hair. “Ehe! Nope! I managed to escape.”
He let go of Hexa, looked away and twisted his scarf. “But…Zuih’s gone. He just…he was swallowed. I couldn’t save him.”
Hexa sighed. “I lost Sharv. He was there…right there…I should’ve been corrupted, not him.”
“Don’t say that-we’re together now. We can get them back, right?”
Hexa sighs. “Maybe…last I saw RuvStyle, he said there was no way to escape it.”
“Wait,” Zynux held up his hands. “But…?”
“No. He was corrupted. But he was able to hold it back…at least for a little bit.”
“Then I came.”
“Oh.” Zynux blinked. “It’s not your fault…”
Jhordan laughs bitterly. “Everything is my fault now. There’s no other explanation.”
“The Darkness caused this, not you. Please don’t make it hard on yourself.”
Jhordan seemed unsure, but he nodded. “…Okay. Thanks, Nux.”
Zynux nods. “You’re welcome. C’mon. Best we leave the area.”
“Alright. But where do we go?”
“I know a place. You might not like it…but it’s our only hope. At least for now.”
Hexa picks up his gun and wipes some dust off the sides. “Let’s go then. Why don’t you think I’ll like it?”
Zynux begins fidgeting with his scarf again. “It’s, well…you’ll see.”
…
“Oh.”
Hexa and Zynux stood in the doorway of a place they once called home, a place they would stay with friends and plan things out. Now it looked as if a whirlwind had blown through their once-safe haven.
“Sorry,” Zynux sighed, putting a hand on Jhordan’s shoulder, “I know this place makes you sad now.”
“It’s okay. I’ll be fine.” Jhordan murmured as he surveyed the wreckage. He shook Zynux’s hand off and walked away.
Zynux was left staring at his friend’s back. Jhord…
He sighed. He needs some time to recover. Just let him be for a bit and everything will be fine.
Zynux blinked as Hexa fell to his knees and picked something off of the ground. “You okay?”
Hexa sniffled. “Yeah…”
Zynux walked over and knelt by his friends side to see what he was looking at. It made his heart feel like it was being twisted.
A picture of all of the NeoGang-but the glass was cracked from falling off the desk. Neonight’s face had been torn out, and the frame was in pretty bad shape.
“I know,” he whispered, putting an arm around Jhordan, “I’m sorry.”
“It isn’t your fault, it’s mine.” Jhordan clutched the picture to his chest. “Neo sacrificed himself for Sharv and I. If we had been faster…”
“You did everything you could. Stop saying it’s your fault.”
“But it is.“
“No, it isn’t.”
Hexa went silent. Zynux looked for something to say, something to take the pain of his friend away, even if only for a second.
“…Where’d you get the gun?”
“Oh.” Jhordan blinked before holding up the pistol. “This? I just found it on the ground. It’s somehow clean.”
“Hm.” Zynux nodded. “Pretty lucky. I found a dagger, but the hilt was covered in the Darkness. Nice to have a clean weapon.”
“Kind of. It reminds me too much of Neo.”
“…You really miss him, don’t you?”
Hexa nodded.
Zynux sighed. “Do you know where he is? Maybe we could–what was that?”
A crunch came from their right, followed by a sound like someone stepping on glass. Instantly, Jhordan wheeled around and brought his gun up, aiming at at the noise.
Zynux simply got up and looked for something to defend himself. Nothing.
The crunch came again. Hexa’s finger whitened on the trigger.
“Don’t shoot,” Zynux warned, “it could be an ally.”
The glow of two eyes glinted from the shadows. “Zynux? Hexa?”
Zynux saw his friend pale but keep the gun pointed at the entity.
The voice repeated, “Zynux? Hexa?”
Jhordan trembled. “That voice…”
The voice continued to repeat. “Zynux? Hexa?”
“Zynux? Hexa?”
“Zynux? Hexa?”
“Zynux? Hexa?”
