THIS IS GONNA BE GOOD(I HOPE)
It’s going to be from Hexa’s perspective, 1st person.
This is just an experiment, it may switch back to 3rd person.
So anyway, let’s do it!
Hexadust
I don’t know what to do.
He’s right in front of me.
I should shoot. I need to shoot.
But I can’t. It’s like my fingers are paralyzed.
I can’t aim at the face that once brought me happiness-corrupted or not.
Zynux isn’t pressuring me-I didn’t think he would. He just saw Zuih, after all. This kind of stuff…it can drive someone insane.
I thought I saw a flicker of emotion in Sharv’s face. But it couldn’t be. He was gone…that’s what I’d told myself…
I didn’t want it to be true…but…here it was…right in front of me…
Why was I acting like such a CHILD?! This was him, whether I liked it or not.
But why can’t I shoot?! I saw him get consumed…there can’t be a way to save him! WHY CAN’T I SHOOT?!
He…he’s gone…
But I’m still here. Why wasn’t it me?
Sharv stood in front of me, equally paralyzed. I couldn’t. I wasn’t going to shoot my friend…corrupted or not. But I…I…
Zynux pulled on the back of my hood. “We should run…you don’t know if he-“
“I…I can’t,” I sobbed, “I can’t leave him…”
Sharv clutched his head. “…Hex?”
He didn’t speak like the other minions…wait…
“Sharv?”
He blinked and one of his eyes returned to normal. I couldn’t hold back my tears.
“Sharv…I…I’m sorry…”
“Don’t be sorry.” He managed a sad smile, but it was coated in pain. “I would suffer again. I’m just glad you and Zynux are safe.”
Zynux stepped back as I reholstered my gun. “Sharv…what do we do? It feels empty…”
Sharv clutched his ribs with his hand. The Darkness had given him claws that reminded me of Rayna. He dug them into his skin and drew blood.
“Stop!” I screamed, “What are you doing?! Don’t hurt yourself…!”
“I need to get him out…I need control…Neo’s in danger…”
That got my attention. “Who’s him?”
“Th…The Darkness.” It seemed to get harder and harder for him to get the words out. “Neo’s possessed too. I need to find him…I need to help him…”
“Where is he? Maybe we can-“
“No.” The glitch around Sharv seemed to intensify. “I don’t want you to get hurt-and I can’t hold him back much longer…”
“Zynux. Lead Hexa away from here. I don’t care where. Just away from me.”
Zynux looked like he wanted to protest but nodded.
“Why do I have to leave everyone behind?!”
Zynux looked at me. “I’m sorry, Jhord…but I don’t think we can help them.”
“There has to be a way…we need to find it.”
“Run, Jhordan.” Sharv’s voice sounded so strained it broke my heart. “We’ll meet again someday…”
“I…” I shook my head. “Okay.”
Sharv smiled. “Thank… you… Run.”
Sharv’s body convulsed like a robot that was turned off and turned off again. He snarled and lunged for me, but I managed to dodge-barely.
Zynux took my left hand and pulled me toward the door. We sprinted through the exit and ran away from someone who was once my closest friend…that thought almost tore me apart.
I knew Sharv was holding that beast inside him back-at least until Nux and I got away.
When we stopped, we were in an abandoned part of a city. A gray, desolate area where people once went about their lives. I tried to make myself believe that the citizens had evacuated. But…I knew the more likely result…
Zynux gasped for breath. “Hexa…you okay?”
I nodded. “Y-Yeah…just dizzy. I…”
I looked at my left hand. “Oh…oh no.”
There was Darkness coating it, causing my arm to glitch…looking in a nearby puddle told me that there was some on my neck.
“I…oh no.”
Zynux began digging through the small satchel I carried around-even before the Darkness came. “If we bandage it, maybe we can…”
“No,” I muttered, “It won’t…”
“I…I’m gonna get taken, Zynux. I won’t even be able to help you…”
I sobbed and fell to my knees. A minute later I could feel someone bandage my wounds…and Zynux sang to me…trying to dull the pain…
Thank you, Zynux…
Even if the inevitable is coming…
I’m glad you’re here for me…
