Did I ever tell you that I love young adult books (when I say young adult that means kids Fantasy books)?
Last year while we were in Tromsø Norway, we got to visit the Tromsø Public Library, thanks to Prisha Rijal who insisted on visiting the library and of course the kids have to use the toilet too.
We were in the children’s section, where they have english titles, browsing through the collection, this book “Bad Magic” caught my eye. I took it out and started reading. It was a fascinating book.
This book is written by Pseudonymous Bosch, and is about a twelve year old boy named Clay. The adventure begins when he writes “Magic Sucks” in a blank old notebook, given to him by his ELA teacher Mr. E. Bailey, and those words magically appear on a school wall as graffiti. He is then sent to “Earth Ranch” a struggling kids camp on Price Island.
In this camp, kids have to pass three tests a swim test, a fire-starting test and a lava safety test to receive “rites of passage”.
Read this book to find out, what adventures await Clay at the Earth Ranch. Will he get his rites of passage? Will Clay find out how the words that he wrote in his notebook made it to a wall in his school?
If you like this book, you would definitely like the whole series. Also check out, The Name of this Book is Secret and The Secret Book Series.
Don’t forget to let me know if you decide to read this book. And of course check out the audio books too, they are very entertaining. Happy Reading!
