Today, I am reviewing a book called The Book That Matters Most by Ann Hood. This story is about a middle aged woman who tries to get over her sister and mothers death, her divorce, and the troublesome daughter who goes mysteriously missing in a foreign country. The one thing that holds her life together is a book. It is a book that helped her overcome the grief of losing her sister and mother.

Ava North has been going through a rough divorce. With her son away in Africa to conduct some research, and her daughter Maggie enrolled in an Arts program in a University in Italy, Ava is left with no support, until her friend suggests that Ava join a book club. In this book club she gets to meet people with different backgrounds. Book club participants share a book that matters the most to them. When it is Ava´s turn to introduce a book to the book club, she suddenly remembers a book she had read in her childhood which had helped her get over the death of her little sister and mother. However, the book has no other copies available and is missing.

While Maggie continues to pursue her studies in Italy, she secretly drops out of school and goes to Paris, where she falls into heroin addiction and mysteriously goes missing. While Ava tries to find her daughter, she also tries to retrace the steps of the book that saved her life. While trying to find the book and the author, it weirdly reconnected back to finding Maggie. What will happen next? Will Ava succeed in bringing her broken family together? How does the book help her reconnect to her family? If you are into books about grief, family and mystery, this book is just for you. Happy Reading!
