What Happened?
Within the last few days of the New year, citizens of the Boulder Colorado community faced a disaster. This disaster known as the Marshall Fire took place on December 30th of 2021 and spread within a blink of an eye across suburban neighborhoods in Boulder Colorado. The fire caused over 500 homes to burn down and many people to evacuate. According to authorities the fire also caused 6,200 acres to burn in less than a day. Almost one week after this fire authorities found the first dead body, they had found partial remains of an adult and claimed that there was someone else missing. How the fire started was not found yet but experts say that it was because of power lines that were damaged due to the strong winds. They also that it will take years for the Boulder community to recover from this disaster but we do know that the damage of this fire resulted from between $819 million to $1.6 billion worth of homes being ruined.
How and Where can I help?
As of right now, many crews are removing any heated remains along the area of the fire to make sure that it is safe for the Damage Assessment Team and utility crews to continue with their work. The fire has caused many citizens to lose their homes and properties but thanks to places such as the YMCA of Northern Colorado most citizens were able to evacuate there. There are also many donation websites, volunteering hours, and more that we can do to help the victims of this disaster. Some places to donate include the Boulder County Wildfire Fund, YMCA Of Northern Colorado, Jewish Colorado Boulder Fire Relif Fund, St. Louis Church Marshall Fire Donation Website, Go Fund Me of Colorado Fires, Marshall Fire Recovery Fund, Archbishops Marshall Fire Donation Link, and more. Donating just a little bit of money can make a big difference in the victims and their life.
