Hey there everyone! I just started to play Pokemon Violet again and have just completed the main game.

Today I’m here to tell all Pokemon players which held items are very important in the latest Pokemon Game. These held items are really useful in battle, and also when used on the correct Pokemon for a good reason. I’m going to introduce some other items besides the useful ones that people know about, like the Choice items and the Leftovers.

5. Quick Claw

People that might be familiar to slow moving Pokemon. You might have a Clodsire that is battling against a Sylveon. The battle is going fine until the Sylveon uses Dig, and even though your Clodsire is chosen to use Sludge Wave, but the Sylveon goes first! Sure as you know it, Dig has already taken our your Clodsire in only one shot.

How can you stop that though? Well, give your Clodsire a Quick Claw of course! Even though it usually makes the holder go first in some occasions, it really is useful if you give it to a slow Pokemon like Clodsire or Gimmighoul, since it gives them a chance to deal damage first against an opponent.

4. Clear Amulet

If abilities like Intimidate bother you, with the effects of moves like Lumina Crash or Moonblast lowering your stats feel uncomfortable, this item can eradicate your problems. Any changes to your Pokemon’s stats are immediately nullified, but only by other Pokemon’s moves.

The only exception to this rule are the moves Haze and Clear Smog, so remember to watch out for those moves! Also, the moves that your Pokemon execute are still going to show stat changes to your own Pokemon, so it does not reduce the consequences of using the move Close Combat!

3. Loaded Dice

You might have encountered a situation like this:

“Alright! All I need is one more hit of Bullet Seed from my Maushold and this Quaquaval will be finished!”

(doesn’t hit another time)

<It’s super effective!>

<The Pokemon was hit 3 times!>

<The opposing Quaquaval used Close Combat!>

“Oh cra-“

If you hate those moments, then have no fear. There is an item that actually helps you hit more times in multi-strike moves! Also called the Cheating Dice in Japan, the Loaded Dice is an item that increases the amount of hits a multi-strike move hits an opponent. For example, Bullet Seed (which usually hits the opponent 1-3 times), will now usually hit 4-5 times. This is very vital if you are facing Pokemon with many counter moves.

2. Rocky Helmet

This one’s a popular one. Many people have been using this in battles against other trainers. Why, you ask?

What this item does is that every time a Pokemon attacks the holder by making direct contact with it. And there are many moves with direct contact with the target, which makes this a formidable weapon in battle. Ouch!

The only way how you surpass the brutality of the helmet is if you use a move that can steal the held item from the Pokemon. And also it’s a bit tricky to get nowadays, but there have been more ways now…

1. All the Type-Enhancing Items

All of these items are SUPER important! What these items do is that they increase the corresponding type of move’s power by 20%.

Still confusing? Let’s say I have a Pikachu that knows the move Surf (I don’t but let’s say I do). The power of the move is unmoved and still 90, since Pikachu is an Electric type and Surf is a Water type move (and the bonus is only given when the user and the move are the exact same type). But if I give Pikachu a Mystic Water, the move’s power is increased by 20%. This means that the power of the move will have been increased to 108.

Another example is where if I have that same Pikachu and focus on a different move it has learned, like Thunderbolt. Since Thunderbolt is an Electric type move and Pikachu is an Electric type, the power of Thunderbolt (which usually is 90) is given the 50% increase, and becomes a power of 135. But if Pikachu is given a Magnet, the power of Thunderbolt is given a 20% from the Magnet and becomes… about 166 in power!

BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE. If I Terastalize my Pikachu and its Tera Type is Electric, and uses Thunderbolt with a Magnet (since Terastalizing doubles the power of a move if its Tera Type and regular type are the same as its move’s type), the power will then be A SHOCKING 332!!! THAT CAN KNOCK OUT ANY WATER TYPE!!!

Now do the same to many different Pokemon moves and their types with their corresponding type enhancing item and have some chaos of your own. All of the main items are showed with their corresponding types in the image above hehehehehehehe.

Happy gaming (and calculating)!
