Hey everyone! So, you probably know that my sister has a liking for this game called Fire Emblem: Engage. It’s an RPG with a lot of cute and cool characters! So… guess what happened?
I got the game for Christmas. That’s literally it.
But, since my sister ALREADY completed the game, I decided to take my own route when stepping myself into the magical world of Elyos. So, without further ado, here are some things I did in my route!
1: Keep Clanne and Framme in my party
If everyone in the RPG community is choosing which units to stick with for the one thousand battles ahead, you can bet your money that the first units the game gives the players are always benched first.
For people that don’t play video games, when a person “benches” a character, that means that they put the character on the side. They don’t want to kick the character out of the party, but they also don’t want to use the character, either. Maybe because they like the character’s personality but the character is suffering a significant level gap between the current party and the character (Level 1 character in Level 100 party lol).
But, back to the topic at hand. I decided to give the two precious twins you get at the start of Fire Emblem Engage, Clanne and Framme, a chance. Also, my sister in her playthrough benched Framme the first chance she got and changed Clanne’s class to a Sage, which not only gave him a HORRIBLE outfit but also made him die in every fight afterwards. So I put some effort in them, and Clanne was okay, as usual. I had heard that Framme was a bad character, so I put some more effort in her and-
Oh. My. Gosh.
Gosh, Framme is the sweetest little girl I’ve ever seen in this game. I know she’s actually older than me and all (which is usual for how messed up the ages in the game are but she’s 16 and I’m 15 so that’s just dumb). So now I have another person on my Pact Ring List.
So then eventually I used some Master Seals to change Clanne and Framme’s classes to Mage Knight and Martial Master respectively. And now they are really good units!
I didn’t do the same with Vander though, I benched Vander the first chance I got. Not only do I hate his personality but he also leveled up really slowly so-
2. Form the Apocalypse Trio
For people that don’t know what the Apocalypse Trio are, don’t worry! I just use this term to reference three certain units in my game that are some of the best I have, and have been the MVP for many of my battles. Those three are Princess Céline and her retainers: Louis and Chloé.
Now, I won’t explain why Louis is in the party, since many people already use him in the party and he is notorious for being one of the best units in the game! But Céline and Chloé need a bit more explanation.
I decided to keep Céline in the party because she is a really good magic unit, and once I changed her class to her exclusive Vidame class, she has become one of my best healers and is still a solid magic unit!
Chloé, in my sister’s playthrough, was benched easily as for my sister, she was a bad unit. However, in the battle where I first got the Apocalypse Trio, guess who was the MVP?
You’re right! It’s not Louis! It was Chloe!
Afterwards, she became a really good unit, especially when I changed her class to a Griffon Knight! I also tried putting Louis with Sigurd, and guess what? The pairing IS overpowered as the community says!
3. Benching Jean, Kagetsu, Timerra and Yunaka
In many playthroughs of Fire Emblem Engage, I see that many players usually include Yunaka in their party. This is mainly because of her iconic personality, being a very good unit due to her Trained to Kill skill and her overall popularity around the community. So did I keep her in the party?
Well, I did. But only for a little while. See, the problem I had with Yunaka was that since she is a Thief, she has no unique class to change into. So, without any other choice, I had to bench out after a while because I was afraid she would die in every battle like the problem my sister had with her. So I replaced her with Ivy (who is my favorite character in the game) as soon as I got the crown princess of Elusia.
This was nothing of a similar situation as I had with Timerra. I benched Timerra the first chance I got for one simple reason: she wasn’t a bad unit at all, I just ABSOLUTELY HATE HER PERSONALITY!
She’s the most annoying person in the game in my opinion. I just can’t make myself like her, sorry.
Kagetsu was benched because I saw that my party didn’t need any better units. There are just some moments when you don’t need to replace your party in some games because you feel like you don’t need it.
This was also the same with Jean. But also because he was still Level 1, and in the only battle I ever used him in, he only healed Chloé once, and that was it. So then I benched him for the rest of the game.
Okay. If I have to list every one of the changes I made during my playthrough of Fire Emblem Engage (so far), this will be a long blog. See you next time!
