Thanks to Our Sunday Project, our group has been given multiple opportunities to try new things and that list includes tubing. On the 8th of January families in Our Sunday Project went tubing at the Sunburst Ski Resort. Although not everyone was able to come we still had fun with the families who were able to come. This year was my second time tubing and like before it was a blast! We basically sled down big steep hills of round donut-shaped tubes, you maybe think “so it was basically sledding” well yes but no. In my opinion, I think that tubing is a lot more fun than sledding because the hills are designed for tubing and are smooth and coated with layers of snow.
As I put on snow pants over my warm cozy sweatshirt, my uncle walked in with zip ties and our tickets showing what time we were supposed to leave. FINALLY, it was time to tube Agie, Abby, my dad and I left the building first eager to feel the tube breeze past the snow. After picking out our tubes we raced to the escalator I admit I was a little scared since it had been 2 years since I experienced tubing but the eagerness took over me as my dad pushed me down the snow. I screamed the whole way down my figure becoming smaller with each passing second only my “AAAHH” and “WOOO” being heard. After the tube had stopped I got off my tube as I saw the next person racing past the snow. After my first ride, I waited for Agie, Abby, and my dad to come down too. We then kept repeating the process walk, escalate, and tube. I went with Abby, Agie, and my dad a few more times before finding someone else to talk to.
On my third time, I laid down on my stomach on the tube and braced myself for when I thought I would fall feeling the icy, cold snow hit my eyes the ride was soon over. When I got off I started looking for some people in our group, I found Radha Auntie and I repeated the process with her we rode down together our tubes tied together in a knot which we would hope would hold us together. The screams of Radha Auntie and I filled the air and when we got off we looked for other people in our group after we got off. During the last hour of our tubing day, I spent it with my mom and my uncle. We decided to go down together me in the middle, my uncle in the front, and my mom in the back. We held onto each other’s strings as we made our way down. However, at the very beginning of our ride, my uncle pulled my tube, and off we went, as I tried to pull my mom with me I accidentally let her go. Overall my time at the Sunburst tubing and asking resort was a blast! I had the time of my life screaming down the hills of snow. I did miss those who couldn’t come that day but hey there’s always next year.
