Well, it’s nearly time to say goodbye to summer and start a new school year. But there will be more reviews to come!

Today I am sharing with you two great books that I just finished reading. Paradise on fire by Jewell Parker Rhodes and To Night Owl from Dogfish by Holly Goldberg Sloan and Meg Wolitzer.

Paradise on Fire by Jewell Parker Rhodes
Adaugo (Addy), is a fifteen-year-old girl and a survivor of a fire accident whereas her parents had lost their lives. Her Nigerian Grandmother, Bibi takes care of her in New York. Her Bibi later signs Addy up for a Wilderness camp in California with other black kids from all over the country. Addy is excited to join this camp but her past trauma of losing her family in the fire haunts her. She always has escape plans in her head wherever she goes including her flight and camp. On the last night, something terrifying happens and she must save herself and her team from the wildfire.
This book is based on a true incident of a forest fire in 2018. Off note, there is a movie based on this fire.
This book also highlights the impact of climate change and wildfires. If you are interested in climate change, fires and adventures, this book is for you.

What will happen next? Read this book to find out.

To Night Owl from Dogfish

Two twelve year old Girls, One Camp, one summer. What could possibly happen?

Avery, an aspiring writer from New York and Bett, a surfer from California are their single fathers only hope and have been loved dearly. Things take a turn when their dads fall in love with each other and begin dating and (maybe getting engaged!). Their dads decide to enroll them in a camp in Michigan called CIGI. While they go to China for a couple of weeks for a motorcycle adventure. They both live in very different worlds but manage to have a special friendship at this camp. There, they learn to stick up for each other and learn more about each other. They become like sister figures to each other throughout this book. Until an accident happens that leads to the two girls getting expelled. Things take a huge turn and possibly leads to the end of both their fathers relationship. What will happen next? Will they bring their families back together?
The thing I really liked about this book is that it was written by two talented authors and written by email. If you want to learn more about this book, please order this book.
