A few weeks ago, I had the chance to meet one of my favorite authors, Thanhha Lai, the author of Inside Out and Back Again. They had published a sequel to that book and I was so excited to read it. Here is a book review of her new sequel When Clouds Touch Us. Before you start reading this book , please start off by reading the first book, Inside Out and Back Again.
It restarts with Ha, who’s slowly settling in with her life in Alabama. She’s finally kind-of fitting in at school, getting along with her peers and making new friends. But in search of opportunities, her mom decides to move to Texas with her family . This is where twelve years old Ha has to start her life all over again. As time passes, Ha has to face challenges as a young adult such as puberty, change, stress, discrimination and racism. This beautifully written verse novel puts us in Ha’s shoes and underlines her life issues, especially how she navigates through adulthood. This story shows us how Ha moves on and goes through a search for better times. If you’re into books that cover the topics of coming of age, friendship, family and moving on, this book is for you!
A few weeks ago when I had a 1 on 1 talk with Mrs. Lai, I had told her that I was a book blogger and that I was so excited to finish up her book and she highly suggested that I write a book review for this book. So this book review is dedicated to Mrs. Lai, my inspiration for writing and all teens who love reading books as much as I do.
