Hey everyone! A question, do you ever have that feeling where you want to think of something but you can’t? Don’t worry, you’re not alone.

Everyone has imagination, and that imagination is thought to be endless as the infinite symbol! But your imagination is not just a set of worlds in your head. Heck, it’s a whole river of thoughts, creations and dreams all stored in that big brain of yours!

But sometimes, there is a dam that blocks that river’s flow. Even worse, this block can happen with anyone, even professional writers! These writers call this blight “writer’s block”, and, as a blogger and a person who writes stories in her free time (no you cannot read them thanks), I can tell you that it is SUPER INFURIATING!!!!

Writer’s block can come in many different forms. The most common is when a writer can’t figure out what to write about. Most of the time, the writer has written SO many stories that it can be hard to figure out some fresh new story ideas. Another form is where you can’t find events to continue the story. You can be showing your book draft to a dear friend while having this form of writer’s block and get a conversation like this:

——————————————————————————————————

Book: “And afterwards, Arigh picks up his spear, sweating through his battle with the nefarious kelpie, now in the form of a huge wolf. It snarls at the young dryad warrior, before shifting into its true form, a black horse with blinding white eyes that showed a void of blankness and charges forward at Arigh, who dodges swiftly at the last minute, his amber eyes showing anger. He dashes forward, surrounding his spear with a tornado of leafs, aiming for the kelpie’s neck >end of chapter. <“

Friend: *excited* And then? And then?

Author: …and I haven’t figured out what happens next. I will in a few months though.

Friend: …

AARRRRRGGGHHHHH-

——————————————————————————————————

…yeah. The last form I want to talk about is where the author can’t find a way to develop their characters. And this can be in anything about the character! From the development of the characters from even their traits! No matter what form writer’s block is in, it really is hard to deal with. But don’t worry, next blog I’ll have a list of solutions to help you unplug your river of imagination!

See you then!
