Hey everyone! I’m back again! After a long, hefty trip to the West Coast…
Last Week, I went to California for my school’s four-day weekend! Why? I suppose the title gave it away, but I went to visit some colleges there!
Gosh, it’s been years since I’ve been on this website blogging and now I’m already looking at colleges… time goes by so fast…
Anyway, there were two colleges that I visited while I was in California:
- Stanford (famous for being VERY prestigious, almost at Ivy League standards when it comes to admissions and
- UC Davis, a much easier school to get into known for its greenery and sustainability over its campus.
I found SO many differences between the campuses!
First, the tour guide at Stanford made it look like that Stanford was easy to get into! I suppose that is just the entire reason to make more and more people apply! The campus is HUGE (“80 Disneylands” as the tour guide said), but there was almost NOBODY out on the campus (maybe because it was a Saturday, but still!) Some parts of me think this is because of the VERY small amount of students that are even AT the campus (only seven thousand undergrads per year!)
There were so many restaurants and takeout spaces, though! That combined with how the campus seems to have its own convenient store
UC Davis, on the other hand, also had a big campus (not as big as Stanford’s though) had a LOT of people on the campus (but maybe because it was Monday, so I could be wrong), and, even though I’m not fond of crowds of people at a school, I liked the bustling crowds of people, and it didn’t seem TOO cramped either!
Personally, I found myself resonating with the campus they had. There was SO MUCH GREENERY. I also saw a kind of jay I’ve never seen before while passing on the trails AND some California turkeys!
So overall, even though I enjoyed both campuses, I’ll probably be going to UC Davis! Even though Stanford is great, I resonate with the campus and I seem to like it more! Just goes to show that just because a school is very prestigious and very hard to get to doesn’t mean that the school is a great fit for everyone!
Moral of the story? Visit colleges! Some of them can be better than you think they are and they help you decide if a college is good for you to apply or not!
See you all next week!
