Hello everyone :))
The title may appear confusing and a common sense thing, and it is.
But you know what they say about common sense? It’s not so common.
Does that sound like it doesn’t make sense? Good. Because it DOESN’T.
I’m gonna start this blog by explaining the title.
If you aren’t able to figure out from the title or do not know what the title is referencing, I am referencing Bean Soup Theory.
Bean Soup Theory basically refers to people expecting everything online to cater to them. The name calls back to a video of a woman making a recipe for bean soup, and people were asking “But what if I don’t like beans??”
And this happens with almost everything. Since social media has an algorithm that serves people whatever they want, people cannot process that MAYBE some things aren’t meant for them.
And I have seen this occur so many times across many spaces.
For example, I am into Eurovision. Fans of songs will GET AT EACH OTHERS THROATS.
If you don’t say Daniel Zizka is the best male vocalist of the 2026 season, you get killed by all the fans of Crossroads who can’t respect opinions.
If you say Switzerland was the best non-qualifier this year, you’re getting killed by Montenegro fans. If you say Montenegro was the best non-qualifier this year, you’re getting killed by Switzerland fans. And if you have a favorite non-qualifier that isn’t one of those, you get killed by BOTH fans.
Now I understand being upset because someone doesn’t agree with you.
But you do NOT need to rain on someone’s parade. Make your own post about it, make a blog about it, complain to a friend. Unless someone is INVITING debate or opinions onto a post, maybe don’t.
What does this look like, in this case? Take this comment (I’m making up on the spot)
“Luka Arandjelovic has such amazing vocals omg. Best male vocalist this year.”
It is not your place to say:
“Come on Serbia??”
“Daniel Zizka better XD”
“MALTA BETTER!!”
You can say NOTHING. Or, say something like this:
“He was amazing!! So many talented voices this year like him and Daniel <33”
IT’S THAT SIMPLE.
It is not necessary to comment every though and be a contrarian all the time. If you must complain, do it elsewhere.
And now, about making your own recipe:
Recently, I saw a short about Eurovision Canada, and how someone was frustrated there was no indigenous representation in the Canadian artists in the finals for Eurovision 2027.
I understand the frustration. But if that is such a big deal, then why not ask indigenous artists to represent?
That’s how representation works. Someone has to step up and do it. If they don’t want to, there is no representation. If an indigenous artist asks about it and wants representation, they should try and participate.
Also: BBNO$ fans read the top section. Do not crap on the other artists participating. BBNO$ is no a finalist, stop bringing him up.
In short, things won’t cater to you all the time. And that’s okay. Move on. If you want representation, 9 times out of 10 you have to do it yourself. It is frustrating, but the best way to see what you want is to make it yourself.
That’s all I have to say. Thanks for reading and see you next week. Be decent people.
