Hey guys 😛

So the title of this blog might need some explaining. That’s okay, that’s usually how titles work.

But anyway.

So you may have felt what the title talks about. Maybe you love something, but someone you really really dislike also loves that thing. Then you hate it just because they like it. It may not even matter if you know what the thing they like is about, you just hate it.

Even worse, if when you like something. But then someone else who likes that thing endlessly bashes you or your favorite thing, and you immediately dislike what you once liked.

Another variation? You like one thing. Something is more popular than your thing. You hate that thing because people like it.

These are all more common than you would think. Very sadly.

And they’re easy pitfalls to fall into!

I was talking to someone today who said her favorite number was the number 8, but now that it’s the number of a boy she dislikes who plays football, she no longer likes it. Don’t let something random like that stop your enjoyment of a number!! Try and associate it with something else.
I get it’s hard. But it helps. Trust me!

As for hating something many people like: I see this hate toward Solo Leveling a lot. It may just be personal taste, I get it. But it seems like a lot of people hate it by proxy :,)

The animation and plot of Solo Leveling is really good and the fight scenes are so cool too!!

However, again, I get this. I get falling into hating something out of spite.

Don’t believe me? Fair. Here are a few of my examples.

If you’ve read my previous blogs, you know I’ve mentioned how I don’t really like Crossroads by Daniel Zizka.

I’m going to be honest. This song was one of my favorites when I was getting into Eurovision. It even ended up being a song I associate with Zelkov, one of my favorite Fire Emblem characters!

However, as I got more into Eurovision, the more I realized how Czechia fans this year (or at least a LOT of them) are really, really, toxic.

By this, I mean anyone who says someone who is not Daniel Zizka was the best male vocalist this year is getting flamed by a million Daniel Zizka fans.

Please don’t do that. I understand liking someone and having a strong opinion on them. But please don’t flame other people for not agreeing with you.

The thing is, I saw this commonly happening with Serbia. When someone says Luka (deservedly) had the best male vocals this year, Daniel fans immediately flame them. I even saw this under Alis’s cover of The Code!
Many Czechia fans would say “Serbia is overrated, Czechia is underrated.” In what world is 52 points by televote, 38 points by jury, for 90 points total and 17th overall overrated? Czechia is scraping top half with 9 televote points and 104 jury points, 113 points total and 16th place. While this is likely due to technical malfunction, I do think that if you’re a fan of one, you can’t speak ill of the other.

Yes, I have done this. But I know better now.

16th and 17th places are not enemies!

Another example of blind hatred, out of spite, was me with Bella by AIDAN.

This may also be hard to believe considering the analysis I’ve done on it.

But it is true!

I learned it placed 18th, 8 points televote, 81 points jury for 89 points overall. And I saw it was only 1 point below Kraj mene.

And I was filled with anger.

Since the only part I’d heard was the clipped chorus of the repeated “Bella”. And I wondered how such a boring and repetitive song could be only one point below Kraj mene.

First of all, points do not equal song quality. The non-qualifiers especially prove this.

Second, the repeated chorus is effective! (See the linked analysis) Even so, the rest of the song is amazing! IN MY OLD BLOG YOU CAN SEE I HATED IT AND PLACED IT IN 34TH. IT IS MY PERMANENT 3RD PLACE NOW.

Similar case with Viva Moldova. Was a huge grow on for me, was not in the right mindset of the peak at the time. But now VIVA MOLDOVA!!

Long story short? Give peas a chance

Don’t let belligerent fans stop you from loving something. Give things a chance before hating them. Respect opinions.

Don’t hate things out of pure spite. You could be locking yourself out of something good.

That’s all, okay bye :3
