Hey everyone! I’m back again after not doing one of these for one week because I forgot (I had some homework and some focusing issues so yeah)! Last time I made a blog like this, I talked about how I took the SAT and my experience on taking it for the second time.

Well, now I’m here to follow it up with my experience on taking the ACT for the third time! So, let’s get into my past experiences with this dreaded standardized test!

So, on the first time I took the test, in my junior year in high school, I did a LOT of studying and preparation beforehand, so I was raring to go when it came to the big day! Once I took the entire test and got the results, I found that I had received a score that I was VERY proud of!

But then I took the ACT again a few weeks after the first. Unfortunately, when it comes to tests, all the knowledge that you have on the topic after you are tested all goes out of the window once your test is done. So, looking back at least, it wasn’t surprising that I got a LOWER score than what I had received the first time.

Fast-forward to last week, where I’m now a senior in high school, I had to take the ACT for a THIRD time. But despite the pressure, I wasn’t really nervous of this next time. I had done some mild practice, and the night prior I did a last-minute practice test and got a good ending score, so I doubted the idea of getting a bad score.

As the time went by on the test, I found that I hardly struggled with the first three sections of the test. At least, on the Math section I struggled a little, but besides that I didn’t have any troubles. But I think I started to lose my touch right before the Science section started.

I had a bit of free time after the Reading section was done, and I was feeling quite bored. So I drew a random character on the post-it note marking my seat. Unfortunately, once the Science section was up, I found myself so proud of the drawing, that I had gotten out of my “test brain” and thus struggled to comprehend the content in the scientific passages given with the problems. Although I was able to find a way to focus again and partially (notice the word ‘partially’) get enough of my focus into the test, and was able to finish it with less than two minutes left.

And then came the Writing section. Ohhh, the Writing section.

I was given the prompt, but for some stupid unknown reason, I could never find a way to word it right. This pondering later lasted for almost the ENTIRE section, before I frantically typed out the rest of my writing prompt at a measly four paragraphs (and they weren’t even big enough paragraphs).

So, believe me, once I get my test back, it will be the Writing section that brings my grade down. Moral of the story? Do writing exercises! You’ll never know when they can help you in anything!

The more you know!
