Hi everyone!!

Yes I am back to Odysseyposting aha

It is the Epic I read last (the school year’s over now) school year so I do like it a lot (I used to fight my English teacher over it)

Also I had a look-see at Epic: The Musical again (listened to it) and REALIZED there are actually quite a few SPECIFIC characters in the song Odysseus.

Specifically: Odysseus, Eurymachus, Amphinomus, Melanthius, and Telemachus in that order.

Now, as happy as I am to see Amphinomus included in something (<– dude who was warned to leave but Athena was like “nah bro you stay and get killed”), I do feel like the other suitors killed should be mentioned.

Also, Melanthius was not actually outright killed! Philoetius and Eumaeus tied him to a beam on the roof and presumably shipped him off to King Echetus the Destroyer (??? I think??) so he couldn’t relay weapons to the Suitors.

So, without further ado, a full list of the mentioned Suitor deaths.

Antinous is the first to die, obviously: shot through the neck by Odysseus after he completes the bow challenge. (Though I am all for the EPIC interpretation where he is shot AS Odysseus completes the bow trial)

Right after that all the suitors are like “HEY YOU KILLED OUR LEADER RANDO” and Odysseus goes “I’M NOT A RANDO I’M ODYSSEUS DIE” and the Suitors get scared
Eurymachus tries to bribe Odysseus (who says “hell no”), so Eurymachus tries to attack Odysseus but gets shot FROM the chest THROUGH the liver and dies. (woah damn)

The rest will be a list because it’s easier to track that way (trust me):
– Amphinomus – stabbed by Telemachus (spear)

– Demoptolemus – struck by Odysseus (spear)

– Euryades – struck by Telemachus (spear)

– Elatus – struck by Eumaeus (spear)

– Peisander – struck by Philoetius (spear)

– Eurydamas – struck by Odysseus (spear)

– Amphimedon, son of Melaneus – struck by Telemachus (spear)

– Polybus (not Eurymachus’s dad) – struck by Eumaeus (spear)

– Ctesippus, son of Polytherses – struck by Philoetius (in the chest, revenge for throwing a cow hoof at Odysseus, spear)

– Agelaus, son of Damastor – stabbed by Odysseus (spear)

– Leocritus, son of Euenor – stabbed by Telemachus (spear)

– Leodes – stabbed by Odysseus (neck, priest of unspecified deity, killed before he even stopped talking, Agelaus’s sword)

Leodes and Ctessipus are the interesting ones to me. Leodes is a prest as stated and the only suitor notably killed with the weapon of a suitor.
Ctessipus is someone I’ve brought up before (in a podcast episode and in this post), but I would like to bring up that the cow hoof parallel is funny. (for more details/info, check either of the two links.)

Anyway we do see the Suitors again at the beginning of Book 24, when we see the shades of Trojan War heroes chilling in the Underworld. (Achilles + Patroclus, Antilochus, Ajax Telamon, and Agamemnon talking about how much Agamemnon’s death sucked and how grand Achilles’s funeral was)

But anyway all the suitors come down to Hades and Agamemnon recognizes Amphimedon and is like “bro what happened to you i know you bro tell me”

And Amphimedon tells him the whole story about Penelope and Odysseus and stuff

Then Agamemnon says “DAMN ODYSSEUS you got a good loyal wife unlike mine who sucked and killed me” and ignores Amphimedon lol

So that’s all the Suitors and their deaths! If you want any more details comment below and I’ll respond with as much as I can :33

Alright that’s all folks! Hope you enjoyed this guide to the Suitors :33

That’s all ok bye 😀
